How does Panadol Ultra work?
Paracetamol is a medicine used to relieve pain and fever from mild to moderate. Codeine is an opioid known as a slightly stronger painkiller. Opioid painkillers are used to mimic the action of natural pain-reducing chemicals called endorphins produced in the brain and spinal cord. Codeine acts on the same opioid receptors as natural endorphins, blocking the transmission of signals of pain sent to the brain by the nerves. While the cause of the pain may remain, this means that less pain is felt.
